We need to start by looking at where your downspouts terminate, the grade of your yard and any current drainage pipes for roots. Downspouts and sump pumps are two common ways most homes move water from one location to another. They can also be problematic if they terminate next to your foundation. It’s important to take the discharged water from the downspouts and sump pump to an area that doesn’t recirculate back to your foundation or pool in your yard. Swales, drain pipes, drywells and French drains are all great options to redirect and remove surface water.
